In the modern digital era, internet addiction, characterized by excessive and compulsive use of the internet through social media, gaming, shopping, pornography, and more, is significantly disrupting various aspects of life globally, including personal relationships, academic and professional performance, and physical and mental health. The impact of internet addiction is visible globally on individuals, families and overall communities affecting relationships, loneliness, FOMO, depression and various mental health issues.
The Texas School of Mental Health recognizes the negative influence of excessive and inappropriate internet use on individuals and communities and has developed mental health services to address internet addiction through its Internet Deaddiction Center. TSMH has also designed professional educational programs to train experts in tackling the growing issue of internet addiction.
